India’s Foreign Policy: Current and emerging trends

25. november 2020 kl. 17.00 - 18.00 CET

As the global power center moves East, which roles does India take? The Danish Foreign Policy Society is honoured to present the Indian Ambassador to Denmark, H.E. Mr. Aijt Gupte, to a talk about the current and emerging trends in Indian foreign policy.

India is the biggest democracy in the world and a global growth economy. As the structures of multilateralism weaken amid the traditional Great Powers’ contestation for dominance across geopolitics, commerce, connectivity, and technology, can an emerging power such as India become a stabilising power, especially in the Asian-Pacific region?

In the last few years, Indian foreign policy has focused more and more on external engagements all over the globe – perhaps in the hopes of creating momentum for a multipolar world order with Asia at its centre?

Join us as the Indian ambassador to Denmark, H.E. Ajit Gupte, will take us through Indian foreign policy trends and what we can expect from one of the world’s biggest countries. The talk will be moderated by Chairman of the board of the Danish Foreign Policy Society, former Permanent Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ulrik Federspiel.

The event will take place physically with all the necessary restrictions and precautions, and simultaneously streamed online via Zoom.

Participants will be asked to wear a face mask while standing up, and to keep a safe distance at all times.
